"It's one of the best moves I've made, and in all sincerity I'm privileged to do the job"

Image of JanetJanet had been a foster carer for many years before she decided to offer support care:

"Support care is supporting families where they may not have anywhere else to turn to. We try to step in to help keep the family together. After all a child wants to be with its mum and dad regardless of what's going on. Honestly, hand on heart; I can count on one hand the amount of children that have gone into long-term care out of those. The rest have gone back home, which is where they want to be.

"I have built up good relationships with families in my time fostering. It's lovely to know you've kept a family together through a bad time. As a foster carer you need to be compassionate, flexible and tolerant, have flair and a way with children. If you have a heartfelt desire to do it, and an ability to learn and adapt, you'll find fostering an amazing, fulfilling experience."
