"I have done a lot of training so I can specialise in caring for teenagers. I've worked with kids from different cultural backgrounds, but being honest it's better to work with West Indians like myself. They can identify with me, my cooking, and my network of friends. It really doesn't help a child when they are seen as being different.

"House chores can be a sticking point. They don't realise that you're trying to give them their independence. So when they go out in the world it becomes a routine."
